These one-of-a-kind gorgeous mugs are made by Jenny Dowd. Porcelain wheel-thrown forms, decorated with hand-drawn sgraffito designs of lines and not-so-planned patterns. Sgraffito means "to scratch" in Italian. After a layer of underglaze has been applied to the leather-hard porcelain, lines are drawn, or scratched, through the underglaze, allowing the white of the porcelain to show through.
Because they are unique, handmade, and one-of-a-kind, they vary in design with size variations, approximately 4 3/4" tall and 3" round.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Dowd House Studios combines the artwork of Sam and Jenny Dowd. Trained in ceramics, both are potters and sculptors. Sam finds inspiration in the quirky forms of nature while Jenny seeks to distill the complexities of society into lines and patterns.
Why the name Dowd House Studios? Well, the Dowd House is also a studio. The garage is a ceramic and welding studio and at any time, the rest of the house can be used for a multitude of other projects. Sam and Jenny live with their art, and by making quirky pottery, they hope to bring enjoyment to your everyday rituals.
